In a small-but-fun project, the local game store needed a way to direct customers to eateries in the vicinity of its new location. Aerial imagery of the area, provided by Google Earth Pro, was pulled-up and, since the Main Street area has been mostly modeled, the 3D mapping functions were used, isolating the area near the game shop.
A washed-out overlay was added to the areas outside of the Main Street corridor so as to not draw attention from the focus while still providing context for the surroundings. Labels and arrows were then added to the map, keyed back to the legend, which was divided to better fit. Finally, the game shop logos were added to make the viewer’s current location easily recognizable.
